India is a country where many religions are followed and as a result, the number of festivals celebrated in the country is also high. Teachers or Gurus hold a lot of importance in the Indian tradition and in fact, they are almost equivalent to God. A festival which is called Guru Purnima is celebrated to pay the gratitude to teachers for the development of the society. Purnima is associated with full moon and Guru Purnima is celebrated in the month of Ashadha of Shakha Samavat as per the Hindu calendar. It can be said that this day is very important for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. It is also believed that Gautam Buddha gave his first sermon on this day only which will be celebrated on July 9 this year.
Netizens are sharing the teachings of gurus and spreading their wisdom but one tweet that has caught the attention of everyone is the tweet from NASA. The space organization has mentioned Guru Purnima and talked about different names given to the full moon.
NASA tweeted a pic of full moon with caption, “Full moon this weekend – called Guru Purnima, Hay Moon, Mead Moon, Ripe Corn Moon, Buck Moon, or our favorite, THUNDER MOON”
