1 More Addition To Make In India! Soon Email IDs Can Be Created In Rashtra Bhasha!

Everyone of us today have an email ID, but how about getting one in Hindi? It would be so good if we could create a desi email ID for ourselves, isn’t it? Soon that ‘IF’ is going to be turned into a reality. People who find it difficult to access the internet or type an email due to language problems are going to enjoy this.

Yes, you heard it right; soon you can create an email ID in Hindi. Government is in discussions with major email service providers like Rediff, Microsoft and Google to materialize this plan.

According to reports, this initiative of creating regional language IDs would lie with the Ministry of Electronics and Telecommunication. This might sound very strange as it doesn’t take more than a minute for you to create an ID but think about those people who hesitate in accessing the internet just because there aren’t any regional options for them.

This program termed as ‘BharatNet’ would be connecting around 2,50,000 Gram Panchayats and will give them access to high speed net connection. Moreover, for citizens who face a difficulty in typing English language, native language options would be provided.

A meeting was called by Rajiv Bansal, Electronics and Telecommunication Ministry’s joint secretary, for discussing this problem.

Response given by the tech giants!

Some tech companies were against this programme and were of the opinion that there is no point introducing this since the regional language technology is already available on phones and web. Now, if you see Google, it supports close to 10 Indian languages and also offers keyboards for those. Coming to Microsoft Edge Browser, several regional languages are supported by it too.

CEO of Rediff, Ajit Balakrishnan stated “Email addresses in local languages are one of those nice things to have, but the government should first bring down the cost of access to around Rs 50 for the Internet to truly reach the masses,”

On the other hand, Microsoft and Google both support Non-Latin email IDs inclusive of Hindi.

However, if BharatNet becomes a reality, there is nothing better than it, what say? Do let us know your views in our comments section below.
