1.Shiva’s curse to Bramha

At the beginning of the time, Bramha & Vishnu had a discord over who was the superior of the two. Amidst their strife, there appeared a giant shiva linga who asked each of them to measure the ends of the linga, and the quicker among the two would be proclaimed the superior. While Vishnu understood that shiva was the ultimate and none could measure him, Bramha lied saying he had found the end of the linga, as Ketki flower bore a false witness for him. An enraged shiva cursed him saying none in the world would worship him.

2.The curse that backfired…Vriddhakshatra’s curse

At the time Jayadratha, the brother-in-law of Kauravas was born, a voice from the heaven was heard saying that the new born would attain glory, but would be slain in a fateful battle where his head would be severed by a prominent warrior. Hearing this, Vriddhakshatra cursed that whoever would cause his son’s head to roll down on the floor, would have his own head smashed as well. In the battle of Kurukshetra, on Krishna’s advice Arjuna severed Jayadratha’s head, lifted it with the help of a string of arrows & threw it on Vriddhakshatra’s lap. The shocked father stood up, and his own head was smashed in return.

3. Rishi Kindama’s curse on Pandu

One day prince Pandu was out hunting when he mistakenly shot Rishi Kindama and his wife, who were making love, mistaking them as deer. Rishi Kindama cursed him saying shall he approach a woman for sex, he would die. Pandu met his fateful end when one day he could not control his urges for wife Madri.

Karna had life long been looked down upon for none knew of his noble birth…he was even denied the knowledge of archery, when he lied to parshurama about being a bramhana and became his disciple. One day when the guru was resting with his head on karna’s lap, a scorpion bit him…Karna did not want to disrupt his teacher’s sleep so he bore the pain of being strung. When Parshurama came to know of it, he understood that no Brahmana could bear with such pain and thus he cursed Karna that he would forget all he learnt when he would need it the most.
