1.Shiva’s curse to Bramha
At the beginning of the time, Bramha & Vishnu had a discord over who was the superior of the two. Amidst their strife, there appeared a giant shiva linga who asked each of them to measure the ends of the linga, and the quicker among the two would be proclaimed the superior. While Vishnu understood that shiva was the ultimate and none could measure him, Bramha lied saying he had found the end of the linga, as Ketki flower bore a false witness for him. An enraged shiva cursed him saying none in the world would worship him.
2.The curse that backfired…Vriddhakshatra’s curse
At the time Jayadratha, the brother-in-law of Kauravas was born, a voice from the heaven was heard saying that the new born would attain glory, but would be slain in a fateful battle where his head would be severed by a prominent warrior. Hearing this, Vriddhakshatra cursed that whoever would cause his son’s head to roll down on the floor, would have his own head smashed as well. In the battle of Kurukshetra, on Krishna’s advice Arjuna severed Jayadratha’s head, lifted it with the help of a string of arrows & threw it on Vriddhakshatra’s lap. The shocked father stood up, and his own head was smashed in return.
3. Rishi Kindama’s curse on Pandu
One day prince Pandu was out hunting when he mistakenly shot Rishi Kindama and his wife, who were making love, mistaking them as deer. Rishi Kindama cursed him saying shall he approach a woman for sex, he would die. Pandu met his fateful end when one day he could not control his urges for wife Madri.
4.The Curse of Urvashi
Urvashi had been fascinated by Arjuna, however the latter had spurned her on grounds that she had been related to his ancestor Puru. An angered Urvashi cursed Arjuna that he would become a eunuch. The same curse helped Arjuna to take shape of Brihannala in their 13th year of exile.
5.Sage Gautam’s curse to Indra
Indra and his lust!!! Once out of covetousness, Indra the king of gods had an affair with Ahalya, wife of Sage Gautam in guise of Gautam himself. When the sage found out about it, he cursed Indra to have one thousand genitals on his body, which he later reverted and then Indra had a thousand eyes, the reason he is also called Shahasraaksha.
6.Yudhishthira’s curse on womankind
Althrough his life, Karna had lived the stigma of being born as a sutaputra( son of a charioteer), so when Duryodhana had bestowed on him the honor of angaraja, Karna couldn’t be more grateful. He remained to the Kaurava clan till his end & died in the battle of Kurukshetra. On his death, Kunti, mother of pandavas disclosed that Karna was her first born. A grieved Yudhisthira cursed all of the womankind that henceforth they won’t be able to keep any secret.
7.Tara’s curse on Lord Rama
Sugriva had promised his help to Lord Rama for getting back Sita, but on a condition, Rama would have to kill his elder brother Bali. While Sugriva and Bali were fighting, Rama shot while being hidden. Bali’s wife later cursed Rama that he would lose Sita soon after getting her back.
8.Bhrigu’s curse to Shiva Parvati
Once Sage Bhrigu had visited Kailasha to meet Shiva for determining the superiority among the trinity. Bhrigu was stopped my nandi as the divine couple were engaged in love making. An enraged Bhrigu cursed that the divine couple would henceforth be worshiped in the interconnected form of male & female reproductive organs.
9.The curse on Jay vijay
Jay , Vijay were gatekeepers at Vaikuntha, the abode of Vishnu. Once the 4 sanath kumaras had visited Vaikuntha to meet Lord Vishnu who then was resting. As dutiful gatekeepers, Jay Vijay had stopped them who then cursed the two that will have to take birth on earth and face the difficulties of the mortal life.
10. Parshurama’s curse to Karna
Karna had life long been looked down upon for none knew of his noble birth…he was even denied the knowledge of archery, when he lied to parshurama about being a bramhana and became his disciple. One day when the guru was resting with his head on karna’s lap, a scorpion bit him…Karna did not want to disrupt his teacher’s sleep so he bore the pain of being strung. When Parshurama came to know of it, he understood that no Brahmana could bear with such pain and thus he cursed Karna that he would forget all he learnt when he would need it the most.
