Assassination attempts are and were common among prominent people. We have seen presidents, prime ministers, human rights activists, religious leaders and priests and celebrities almost get killed in cold blood by hatersor strangers they don’t even know.

1. Adolf Hitler

Hitler on March 11, 1944 at a conference at the villa, Captain Eberhard von Breitenbuch attempted to kill Hitler, he was caring a small Browning pistol. The captain deeply felt that the destruction of Germany was already going on and that some have to come forward to stop the German leader.

2. Vladimir Lenin

After he delivered a speech on August 30, 1918 in a factory in Moscow, Vladimir Lenin was shot three time by Social Revolutionary Party member Fanya Kaplan. Vladimir Lenin’s shoulder and jaw were hit but he manage to survive the attack despite the serious wounds.

Pope John Paul II was ready to give his speech at St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981 when a Turksih gunman named Mehmet Ali Agca shot a bullet towards at him. He fired the shots when the pope was walking through the crowd. The Pope was then rushed to Gemelli Hospital and fortunately survived.

4. Benazir Bhutto

Islamic Nation Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto arrived in Karachi, Pakistan after so many years living in exile. On October 18, 2007 two bombs went off at the airport, two suicide bombers hit her homecoming parade. Bhutto managed to survive the attack but 139 people were killed in the blast. Al-Qaeda was responsible for the bombing.

5. Theodore Roosevelt

On October 14, 1912, Theodore Roosevelt was in a campaign in Milwaukee and was about to give a speech when a mentally unstable person named John Schrank shot at him. The bullet passed through his speech and eyeglass case and through his skin but fortunately missed his lung. Even after the shot, he continued to deliver the speech with blood seeping through his coat.

On December 11, 1960, a retired postal worker named Richard Paul Pavlick followed Kennedy in Palm Beach, Florida to kill him by blowing his car with dynamite. His was going to ram his car into the limousine of JFK so the dynamite kill them both. Kennedy left the house with his family. Feeling pity for JFK’s family, Richard Paul Pavlick decided to do the assassination another day.

In January 2013, an man tried to kill the Bulgarian political leader Ahmed Dogan when he was delivering his speech at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The gunman came up to the stage and directly extended his gun toward Dogan, but the gun jammed and failed to fire.

Some agents picked up a radio chatter with some code words referring to a terrorist attack. Agent Merletti decided to  change the route to protect the President. He planted an explosive near a bridge in Rawalpindi city where the Pakistani political figure was expected to pass. The attempt failed because when the bomb blast happened, the convoy of Musharraf had already crossed the bridge.
