Shekar Naik is an inspiration to many, he is a blind cricketer who against all odds became a T20 Blind Cricket World Champion with 32 centuries to his name. With knocking every obstacle on his way. He is a true champion.

2. Sudha Chandran

The famous Indian TV and Movie star Sudha Chandran is another example in the list. She is a professional classical dancer from Kerala. But at the age of 16, under severe circumstances doctors had to cut her leg which devastated her. But she overcame her disability and got a prosthetic “Jaipur Foot” and later became one of the popular and acclaimed classical dancer of the country.

3. H. Ramakrishnan

Affected by Polio in his both legs at a young age of two and a half years. H. Ramakrishnan had to face struggle at every step in his life. He was denied admission at a regular school and because of the disability, he was rejected from several job interviews. But after struggling for around 40 years, he went on to become the CEO of SS Music TV Channel. He has a keen interest in music, hence he is also a musician. Also, he runs a charitable trust called Krupa to help the specially-abled.

4. Ravindra Jain

Ravindra Jain needs no introduction, he is a veteran music composer who composed famous songs “Ek Radha Ek Meera”, “Milan Abhi Aadha Adhura Hai”. Sadly, he was born visually impaired, but started singing at a young age and his passion for music led him to Indian music industry and in the decade of 1970s he went on to become the most notable music director. He was so much dedicated to music that while one of the recording sessions his father passed away. But he didn’t leave the studio until the recording was completely finalized. He passed away on October 9th, 2015.

5. Girish Sharma

Girish Sharma is a one legged badminton champion player who lost his leg in a train accident at a very young age. He never let his disability come in between his passion for sports and went on to become champion badminton player. With only one leg, he is not even comfortable but also covers the entire court effortlessly. Isn’t he another diamond.

6. Arunima Sinha

Arunima Sinha lost her leg in an unfortunate accident when some robbers pushed her out of the moving train. Because of this she had to amputate her leg. With her strong will power and determination, she climbed Mount Everest two years later and became the first disabled person to climb the peak.

7. Rajinder Singh Rahelu

He got polio when he was just eight months old and since then, he is unable to walk. Rajinder Singh Rahelu discontinued his studies after completing his high school in 1996. Later he got motivated by his powerlifter friend who advised him to pursue a career in Weightlifting sport. Several months of rigorous training and practice, he created history by winning a silver medal in powerlifting at the Commonwealth Games 2014.

8. Malathi Krishnamurthy Holla

Malathi Krishnamurthy Holla is an inspiration to many people. She is a para-athlete from Bangalore who got paralyzed when she was a toddler. After regular shock therapies for around 2 years doctors were able to get strength in her upper body but her lower body remained weak with no major effect on it. She then decided not to let her disability come in between her dreams to become successful. She started taking part in every sport in college and later represented India in many international events including the Para-Olympics. She has won Gold in 200m, shot put, javelin throw at 1989 World Masters’ Games in Denmark. Winning over 300 medals at several sport events. She is also a recipient of the Arjuna Award and Padma Shri Award. She also runs a foundation named Mathru Foundation to help disabled children.

9. Sai Prasad Vishwanathan

Many people know him, but if you don’t. Sai Prasad Vishwanathan is first Indian skydiver to have his name registered in Limca Book Of Records for skydiving from 14,000 feet. Vishwanathan lost sensation in his lower body when he just a kid.

10. H. Boniface Prabhu

He has made quite a name in Tennis. How?. Actually H. Boniface Prabhu got paralyzed below his at a young age of 4 years. But he continued his education just like every other student in a regular school. Because of his hard work and will power he became a notable figure in wheelchair tennis sport. He also won a medal at 1998 World Championships and is a recipient of Padma Shri award in 2014.
