Every country has some laws set for driving; drivers have to follow them in order to avoid fines and imprisonment. Of course, these laws are designed for safety of the driver as well as pedestrians. However, in some places across the globe, the driving laws are so weird that you can’t even imagine. Given below is a list of 12 such laws; they are probably the weirdest you must have ever heard.
1. Moscow
In Moscow, it’s mandatory to have a clean car. Yes, if it’s unclean, you might be fined up to Rs 3,400. Imagine if this happened in India, LOL.
2. Thailand
No matter how hot it is in Thailand, it is compulsory for you to wear your shirt while driving. It’s illegal to go topless while driving in Thailand and a fine up to Rs 300-400 is applicable.
3. Japan
Japan has always been a courteous country and this law proves it. While driving, it’s illegal to splash water or mud on the pedestrian. We wish this law comes into effect in India too, especially in monsoons.
4. Sweden
It’s compulsory to keep the headlights of the car on throughout the day. During winters there is a fine if you drive without headlights ON.
Reason is, Sweden hardly gets any sunlight during some months so they have made it compulsory to avoid accidents.
5. Cyprus
Indians can never ever adopt this law. In Cyprus, citizens are not allowed to eat or drink anything while driving. There’s a hefty fine for the same. We wonder what they must be doing on long journeys.
6. China
This is inhuman, isn’t it? In China, you can’t stop your car for any pedestrian. Yes, it’s literally against the law. There’s a fine of Rs 250. Does this mean that the country is unsafe in terms of road-crossing?
7. Maryland
We wish India had this law too. In Maryland, you can’t curse the public or yell at them while driving. You might be fined up to Rs 5,800. In worst cases, you might be imprisoned for 3 months.
8. Manila
This is once again a weird law; when in Manila, you aren’t allowed to drive your car on Monday, if the number plate ends with no. 1 or no. 2. Poor guys, what must they be doing during emergencies?
9. Spain
In Spain, you can’t drive with flip-flops, open-front shoes, high heels or barefooted.
10. Denver
In Denver, you cannot drive a black car on Sundays; the punishment varies, but still be safe.
11. Switzerland
In Switzerland, you can’t wash cars on Sundays. Once again, this is so damn weird.
