14-Yr Ahmed Demands Rs 99 Crore Compensation & Written Apology For Arrest Over Homemade Clock

I’m sure you must not have forgotten the school student who built a clock which was thought to be a bomb and resulted in the arrest of the teenage named Ahmed Mohamed.

A compensation of $15m with apologies in black & white from the mayor and police chief of the city, have been demanded by the family of Ahmed Mohamed.  Ahmed is the Texan school student who was taken in custody due to the homemade clock that he took to his school which was mistaken for a bomb.

The lawyers have sent the letters on Monday and said that if their demands are not met by the City of Irving and Irving School District, then legal course will be taken by filing a civil suit. The letter read, “Ahmed never threatened anyone, never caused harm to anyone, and never intended to. The only one who was hurt that day was Ahmed, and the damages he suffered were not because of oversight or incompetence.”

It also read, “The school and city officials involved knew what they needed to do to protect Ahmed’s rights. They just decided not to do it.”

Ahmed became famous in September after he was sent to lock up when he went to school with his homemade clock. Police was called by a teacher as the homemade clock looked like a bomb.

Ahmed and his father alleged that they have fallen prey to Islamophobia.

He was invited at White House afterwards to meet the President Barack Obama who also made a tweet about his “cool clock”.

The teenager met Mr. Obama at a science evening at White House but without his homemade clock.

The family has later disclosed that they have received an invitation from the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, for shifting to Qatar which has been accepted by them and they are moving to Qatar. The Law firm Laney and Bollinger has sent two letters which has demanded a written apology from Mayor of Irving, Beth Van Duyne and Police Chief Larry Boyd. As per the letters, the civil rights of Ahmed have been violated and he with his family went through physical and mental anger. In the letter it was claimed that Ahmed was separated from others because of his “race, national origin, and religion.”

A compensation of $10m has been demanded from the City of Irving and $5 from the school district. No response has been made by any of the parties regarding the letters and compensation demanded.
