17-Yr Indian Boy’s Gift To Women- This ‘ElectroShoe’ Will Keep Them Safe & Prevent Rapes

Safety of women is undoubtedly a very important issue that needs to be addressed properly and it is not only the duty of government but we, as citizens, can also make contribution in this matter.

The statement fits perfectly to 17-yr Siddharth Mandala who hails from Hyderabad and has developed an “ElectroShoe”, which can be used by ladies to electrocute attackers.

Siddharth wants to become an entrepreneur and he has used the concepts of Physics that he was taught in school in addition to some basic programming to design ElectroShoe.

The attacker will get a shock of 0.1 amp electricity when he will be attacked by the ElectroShoe. Not only this, alerts will also be sent to police as well as family members of the lady by the product. Explaining the concept of his product, Siddharth says,

“The shoe was created using a unique circuit board that uses footsteps to charge itself with the help of a concept called the “piezoelectric effect”. The more the user walks, the more energy is generated and stored in a rechargeable battery.”

Siddharth has applied for the patent and he is now planning to test his product in the real market. He further says,

“After the patent is obtained, I plan to approach start-up incubators in the city to get a better understanding of how my product will fare in the real market and what changes I have to make to the prototype. I need to focus on the designing of the product in order to make it appealing in a market space.”

The idea to create such a product struck in Siddharth’s mind after the shocking incident of Nirbhaya gangrape case which took place in Delhi in 2012. He further tells,

“All a woman needs to do is to ensure that the battery is sufficiently charged. When the shoe makes contact with an attacker’s body, the attacker will be electrocuted.”

We need more such youngsters who think about others and their safety. People like him will definitely play an important role in making our country a better place to live.
