It has been two years now since Ashutosh Maharaj was declared clinically dead by doctors but his followers are still not ready to perform his last rites. Ashutosh Maharaj was the religious head of Dera “Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan” and his body is being kept in a cold freezer in Noormahal of Jalandhar.
The followers of the religious guru feel that he is in Samadhi and he will be returning back soon. Vishalanand, the spokesperson of Sansthan reaffirms his faith when he said, “We will wait for him even if the wait is endless. We only wish to be allowed to live as per our faith.”
On 29 January 2014, an ambulance was called in the Sansthan as the Dera head was experiencing pain in his chest and later on, the doctors declared him “clinically dead”.
In December 2015, the High court of Punjab and Haryana left it to the Sansthan to make a decision about what should be done with the body of Ashutosh Maharaj.
