The Gorakhpur horror continues. After deaths of 62 children due to lack of oxygen, yet another incident has come to light. Around 42 children have died in 48 hours in BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur.

These deaths happened in the hospital’s PICU i.e. Paediatric intensive care unit and NICU i.e. Neo-Natal Intensive care unit. As per the top officials, 7 of them died due to acute Encephalitis while the others died due to other diseases.
Following these deaths, Dr Rajiv Mishra, the principal was suspended by Yogi government. The Special Task Force arrested Rajiv Mishra and his wife Purnima Shukla yesterday afternoon in Kanpur and also sacked the head of encephalitis dept, Dr Kafeel Khan, who had emerged as a hero for saving many lives.
PK Singh, the officiating principal of that hospital said,
“Many children in critical condition are coming to our hospital. We are receiving nearly 256 children every day. Until midnight on 27 August, there were 342 patients in the pediatrics department, of whom 17 died. Until midnight on 28 August, there were 344 patients on the bed; 25 of them died.”
This is an alarming situation and BJP government needs to act on this soon. This is 2nd major tragedy in 1 month and is not acceptable at all.

Medical facilities in UP need a drastic improvement. This is not the first time that such incidents are seen in BRD medical college.
As per reports, around 1250 deaths have taken place since January 2017. Hope quick action is taken and medical facilities are advanced soon.
