4 Indian Cricketers Who Made Their Debut In The Same Year As Rishabh Pant But Couldn’t Succeed

The Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has been an integral part of the Indian team for quite some time now; however in the recent past, he has been out of form and for the same, he is getting trolled a lot as well. There is no denying the fact that he has enjoyed pretty good support from the team management since 2017 as many feel that he is a special talent that should be nurtured and groomed properly. Moreover, there have been some moments when he has shown that he has the X factor but inconsistency has been his biggest problem. Rishabh Pant has captained the Indian side too and he is also the skipper of Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

In recent times, netizens have accused Rishabh Pant of eating up all the opportunities which should have been given to other cricketers such as Sanju Samson but the Indian team management is strongly supporting Pant despite his failed performances.

Rishabh Pant made his debut in the shortest format in the year 2017 but he had to wait for one year to make his debut in ODIs and test matches. There have been some players who made their debut in the same year as Rishabh Pant but they couldn’t secure their place in team India for a long time.

Here is the list of such players:

1. Prithvi Shaw:

This young and talented cricketer from Mumbai proved his worth in the very first test series that he played as he won the Man of the Series award but till date he has represented the country in just five test matches despite the fact that he debuted just few months after Rishabh Pant’s debut. Prithvi Shaw’s last test match was against Australia in 2020 after which he was dropped and since then, he has not been able to make a comeback. At that time, some former cricketers said that there is a flaw in his technique but in the recent times, he has performed pretty well in the domestic levels; nevertheless he still hasn’t been included in the squad for the Bangladesh tour in which India will play two test matches.

2. Siddharth Kaul:

The pacer who played for Punjab in the domestic circuits made his debut at the international level in the year 2018 but he played only 3 ODIs and the same number of T20Is for the country. The last match that he played was against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2018 and after that, he was not able to make a comeback in the Indian team.

3. Parvez Rasool:

The all-rounder was the second cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir who managed to get selected in the Indian squad. Though Parvez Rasool made his ODI debut in 2014 against Bangladesh yet his T20I debut took place just 5 days before Rishabh Pant made his debut. While Parvez Rasool made his T20I debut in the first match of the series against England, Rishabh Pant made his debut in the third match of the T20I series. Parvez Rasool played only 1 ODI and 1 T20I match for the country and now there is no chance of his comeback.

4. Khaleel Ahmed:

The cricketer who plays for Rajasthan in the domestic circuits made his ODI debut just few days before Rishabh Pant and in the IPL 2022, he played for Delhi Capitals under Pant’s captaincy. Khaleel Ahmed played 11 ODIs and 14 T20Is for the country in which he took 15 and 13 wickets, respectively.

Only one of these 4 players, i.e., Prithvi Shaw might make a comeback in the Indian team but when, let’s wait and watch.
