Lallan, who is a painter by profession, was going to buy a TV for his children. He said,

“I was not standing in the ATM queue, but I saw people standing and I felt that only poor people are suffering. So I criticized the demonetization scheme. Suddenly, one person at a departmental store started abusing me verbally. When I asked him the reason, he started hitting me and asked how I could criticize the PM. Soon after, others joined him. I sustained injuries on my head and started bleeding.”

He said that he was saved after some people interfered. In his words,

“I was taken to a hospital, where I received stitches on my head. I still feel that what I said was not wrong. They also took Rs 6,000 from me. I had to take a loan for my treatment. I am losing out on daily wages as I am unable to work. I don’t know how I will run my family.”

A case has been filed under the sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) & 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of Indian Penal Code.

There is no denying the fact that demonetization is a bold and strong step taken by the government to deal with the problems of corruption and black money but don’t you think that a person has the right to express his opinion about it, even if he is against it?
