While many actors leave the movie world to start new careers or personal lives, a few have disappeared without informing anyone. These stars were once famous but now even their families don’t know where they are or how they are doing.
Let’s look at the stories of five Bollywood actors who vanished, leaving behind nothing but questions.
1. Raj Kiran – A Talented Actor Who Went Missing
Raj Kiran acted in many big films in the 1980s like Karz, Baseraa, Arth, Maan Abhimaan, Raaj Tilak and Ghar Ek Mandir. He worked with top actors like Rishi Kapoor and Sridevi but when his career slowed down, he went into depression.
In the early 2000s, he was taken to a mental health center and after that, he disappeared. For over 20 years, no one has seen him or heard from him — not even his family. His wife remarried and his daughter moved on but still remembers him on his birthday.
While some people said that he was driving a taxi in New York, others claimed he was in a mental hospital in the U.S. Even actors Rishi Kapoor and Deepti Naval tried to find him but didn’t succeed.
2. Vishal Thakkar – Gone Missing After a Night Out
Vishal Thakkar acted in films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Tango Charlie and Chandni Bar. In 2016, he told his family that he was going to watch a movie but he never returned. At 1 a.m., he messaged his father saying he was going to a party and would come back the next day. That was the last message from him and he had only ₹500 when he left his house.
Nine years have passed and his family still has no idea where he is. His mother regrets not going with him that night. Three months before he disappeared, the then girlfriend of Vishal Thakkar accused him of rape and it is being said that Vishal was not in good mental state at that time as he was not getting work.
3. Jasmine Dhunna – The Star of Veerana Who Vanished
Jasmine Dhunna became famous for playing a witch in the 1988 horror film Veerana. She was bold, beautiful and talented. But after that movie, she suddenly disappeared.
It is being said that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was crazy after her and she was being followed by people connected him. She received threatening phone calls because of which she got so disturbed that she stopped going out. Scared and disturbed, she eventually left India. Around that time, her mother also passed away.
In 2017, filmmaker Shyam Ramsay said that Jasmine was still in Mumbai but living a private life. Actor Hemant Birje who worked with her said that she had moved to the U.S. after getting married. But Jasmine herself has never shared anything publicly.
4. Malini Sharma – The Ghost of Raaz Who Disappeared
Malini Sharma played the ghost in the hit film Raaz. The movie was a big success and people loved her performance but after that, she left the film industry. Since then, there has been no news about her — no interviews, no updates — just complete silence.
5. Kajal Kiran – A Lovely Heroine Lost in Time
Kajal Kiran whose real name was Sunita Kulkarni made her debut opposite Rishi Kapoor in the hit film Hum Kisise Kum Nahin. She acted in a few more films and her last movie was in 1997. Since then, no one knows where she is. In 2016, Rishi Kapoor posted a message on social media asking if anyone knew about her. It’s been 27 years but she remains missing from public life.
These actors were once loved by audiences across India; they gave us great performances and unforgettable characters but then they disappeared — leaving behind confusion, sadness and mystery.
What happened to them? Why did they leave the industry? Will we ever know the full story?
