Shocking! A 5 year old named Keshav had swallowed a toothbrush and he didn’t speak up anything about the incident until he felt extreme pain while having food and while urinating. He didn’t complain about the discomfort since he thought mom would scold him.
When the pain increased a lot, doctors at Raipur medical college were consulted and they found a 5 centimeters stone in his urinary bladder and a foreign object.

Dr. J Patel, a paediatric surgeon stated that the object wasn’t clear in the ultrasound and X-ray. When the stone was pulled out of the bladder of the boy, a 15 cm long stick came out with it, which was fully covered with blood. Then they got to know it was a toothbrush. When Keshav was asked about the same, he became quite hesitant and stated he doesn’t remember when it went down the throat. Hemant Sahu, his father, was shocked to know about the toothbrush which was there in his stomach for around an year.
This was a miracle!
Dr. Patel stated that this case was an unusual one. 3 holes were pricked in the intestine of the boy and then it reached the bladder. Generally people die in these cases if treatment isn’t provided on time. However, it is a miracle as to how this boy survived. Another paediatric specialist Dr. Amin Meman stated that this boy swallowed the toothbrush an year back and complained only after 6 months. This is because it takes 6 months for a stone of 5cms to form. After the formation, immense pain is experienced.
The stone has been removed now and the damaged intestine and urinary bladder of the boy has been repaired in an operation on Wednesday. Now, he is hospitalized for a week and until his bladder and intestine starts functioning properly, he has to visit the doctor.
