You’ve heard the name and are well aware of the horrific attacks this militant organization does. Here are somethings more about them-
1. Taliban- students of Islamic knowledge movement is a Sunni Islamist mass organization of mujaheddin or ‘holy’ warriors which ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001.
2. It is infamous for it’s atrocities against women who are not allowed to work and girls are not allowed to attend school. They’re also required to cover every inch of the skin while leaving home. Men are also asked to keep full beard all the time.
3. Every kind of entertainment is banned. Music, TVs, photography and movies are outlawed.
4. The rise of Taliban is responsible for miserable plight of Afghanistan, which was once a liberal country once.
5. Longtime supporter Pakistan is the only country which considers Taliban as the only legitimate country in Afghanistan.
6. Taliban took responsibility for the brutal massacre of around 132 children of an army run school in Peshawar, Pakistan.
7. These sadists made the life of people living under them miserable- women isn’t allowed to leave home without a male partner and if they did so, they’d be beaten or even shot by officers of ‘ministry for the protection of virtue and prevention of vice’ in public. They aren’t allowed to wear fingernail paint and if caught, finger tips were chopped off. They operated according to Sharia.
8. It was reported by Afghanistan’s Intelligence Services, that founder of Taliban Mullah Omar has died in 2013 in Pakistan.
9. Malala Yousafzai who was shot in the head by Talibani militants for going to school. They also wrote a letter to Malala explaining why they tried to kill her.
