World famous wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt, had secured a bronze medal in 2012 London Olympics, in the Men’s freestyle 60 Kg category and last month it got upgraded to Silver, because Besik Kudukhov, the late Russian wrestler, who was a silver medalist in that category, got positively tested in the dope (Banned substance) test.
This year too, Yogeshwar participated in Rio Olympics, but unfortunately, he couldn’t win any medal. There were many media reports that Yogeshwar’s silver medal would be upgraded to gold, since Togrul Asgarov, (Gold medalist in the same category in 2012 London Olympics) too was tested positive in the dope test.
However, it seems that, these were nothing but rumors. Yes, United World Wrestling has finally given an official confirmation on Twitter, thereby rubbishing all these rumors. UWW tweeted that the victory of Asgarov was legal and he is not tested positively in the dope test, which means no gold medal upgradation for Dutt. Have a look at the tweet…

The norms of World Anti-Doping Agency have been revised and as per the new rules, samples that are taken for dope tests are stored for over 10 years in deep freeze. As technology advances, these samples are tested using latest methods, thereby identifying dope cheats with ease. With this system, complete justice is ensured to clean athletes, even though it is after few years.
