“M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story” is having a successful run at the Box Office and is winning the hearts of all Dhoni fans. The movie has received a massive response, thanks to strong word of mouth, intense promotions and amazing acting skills displayed by actors. The biopic reveals many untold secrets of Captain Cool’s life and this has made the audience all the more interested. Above all, people have loved the character of Yuvraj Singh, which is essayed with perfection by Herry Tangri.
Viewers, who recently watched Indian captain’s biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, were in for a surprise as it has a scene of the U-19 Cooch-Behar final match of 1999 between Punjab and Bihar, which had Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Sushant) playing for his hometown Bihar and his future national team mate Yuvraj Singh (Herry) captaining the Punjab team.
What the movie shows about the match?
After this match, Sushant’s dialogue in the movie goes as follows…
“Toh day 2 mein hum out ho gaye 84 run pe, pura team out ho gya 357 run pe. Punjab batting karne aata hai, unka pehla wicket girta hai 60 pe, fir batting karne aata hai Yuvraj Singh.
Day 2 ke end ka score 108/1. Purey Day 3 mein sirf unka eke hi wicket girta hai.
Day 3 ke end ka score 431/2. Yuvraj Singh double century, bahut maara, dhaaga khol diya ek dum.
Last day – Day 4, Punjab ka total score 839… Yuvraj ke akele ka score 358, Bihar ke total score se 1 run jyada. Humko 2nd inning hi nahi mila”
What the audience is thinking?
While, not much is known about the above mentioned match, the viewers doubted whether any such match had been played in reality or the dialogue in the movie was scripted just to raise the excitement quotient. How can Yuvraj alone score 358, wherein the total of the whole Bihar team is 357? What do you think, was Yuvraj Singh’s score a reality or are the facts tweaked in the biopic? I am sure you might be having too many questions in your mind, as to how this is possible, isn’t it?
What is the reality?
So for viewers, doubting the authenticity of this match, the game has actually taken place in reality. It was the final match of Cooch-Behar Trophy, which was played at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur from 16th to 19th December 1999. We surfed the net for details and found out that this match was a ‘Reality’ and we present before you the scorecard, which will lend credence to the proceedings.
Proof of Bihar’s total!
Proof of Yuvraj’s score!
As for Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was wicket-keeping in the match, the flamboyant cricketer scored a respectable 84 runs in 137 balls. While, Yuvraj’s contribution of, 358 runs, came in off 404 balls. Yuvraj was so determined to prove his worth that, the cricketer did not hit a single six until he had crossed his double century.
Now this rubbishes all those controversies which people keep talking about on social media. Yes, the fight between Dhoni and Yuvi has been a common topic of discussion on Twitter, but now that Dhoni has included this awesome inning of Yuvraj in his biopic, the situation seems to be completely the opposite.
So hope that by now you are all clear about this match, isn’t it? This is the fact and indeed, Yuvraj had scored such a ‘Massive’ figure that time! Hats off Punjab Da Puttar! We love you…
