“M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story” is having a successful run at the Box Office, and its amazing numbers are a proof of it. On the opening day, the movie collected a whopping 21.30 crores, thereby becoming the 2nd highest opener of 2016.

However, did you ever wonder why this movie is so successful? Is it because of Dhoni’s power or is it because of Sushant’s flawless acting? No! The actual secret is something else, do you want to know?

Well, it is because of those brands that Dhoni endorses! Yes, they did block bookings in theaters, thereby making it possible for the movie to garner such good numbers. All those brands (Endorsed by Dhoni) booked entire theaters and this alone contributed to around 9 crores, which is amazing, isn’t it? This block booking was done on Friday(Opening day) as well as on the weekend.

Atul Mohan, the trade analyst stated that

“Yes, block bookings by major corporates were done for MSD. But as long as the money and people keep coming into the theatres, there’s no harm. Dhoni is about teamwork and cricket is also won through teamwork. Trade is only concerned with box office revenue and with more occupancy.”

Rajendra Jala from Inox said that the biopic had done a very good business due to block bookings and this is what contributed to a great opening. He also added that apart from this, even general public flocked to the theaters, owing to the popularity of Dhoni. Good story line and awesome promos have made the movie even more successful.

Carnival Cinemas’ Rajesh Makhija stated that India is crazy for players and cricketers and this is the reason why the theaters were houseful. On the opening day as well as the weekend ,the occupancy rate was 70 percent, which is superb. For a non-Khan movie, such openings were unexpected.

He adds “More than five lakh patrons watched it till Sunday at our cinemas and we are confident about a fabulous run during the weekdays also.”

Indeed this is the secret which made the biopic reach heights of success. Very soon it would be entering the 100 crore club, what else do the makers want?
