There were reports that Reserve Bank Of India is planning to introduce currency notes of Rs. 2,000 in the market as a part of its strategy to combat the hoarding of black money. On October 21, the news daily The Hindu Businessline published an article which said that the notes of 2000 denomination have already been printed in Mysuru currency printing press and dispatched too.
The images include many bundles of pink notes of 2000 denomination; however, it is not clear whether they are real or the fake ones. What’s more, neither the Indian government nor the RBI has issued any statement regarding the currency notes of Rs. 2,000.
Till now, 10,000 is the highest denomination of which RBI has printed notes and that too in 1938 and 1954. At the present time, 1,000 is the highest denomination which is in circulation but there has been a lot of demand to pull back the notes of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 as they are easy to hoard.
