The demonetization decision by the Modi government has come as a rude shock for the opposition parties and they are not only protesting against it but also demanding roll-back of this decision.
Undoubtedly, the move has created a chaotic situation for the common public as well plus there have been some casualties too, but people are hoping that normalcy will be restored in 50 days, as said by PM Modi.
Today, the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addressed Rajya Sabha and he spoke on the matter of demonetization and its implementation. He described it as “monumental mismanagement” and also stated that it would also reduce the GDP by 2 percentage points. Moreover, according to him, it is under-estimation, not over-estimation.
As per Manmohan Singh, he doesn’t disagree with whatever benefits of demonetization have been stated by PM Modi in the long run but at the same time, he also recalls the lines of John Keynes, “In the long run all of us are dead.”
