Being an army brat himself, the actor has always shown immense respect and love towards Indian Defence Forces.
Last week,3 jawans lost their lives near Digboi in Assam, in an encounter with ULFA terrorists. One of them was N K Narpat Singh, who left behind his family consisting of a wife and 3 daughters. Akshay’s friends who are in the army informed him about this news and as soon as he heard this, he was prompt enough to volunteer.
He spoke to N K Narpat Singh’s wife and also offered condolences; without hesitating even a bit, the actor offered Rs 9 lakhs to the family, so that they get some financial support. When Narpat Singh’s wife thanked him, he said
“We actors are reel life heroes but people like Narpat Singh Ji are real life hero. My feelings are with the family and I will stay in touch with your family in future too.”
Even though Akshay’s shooting schedules are hectic, he constantly keeps in touch with his friends in the police and army. Not only this, he has even informed them to keep him updated with such cases, so that he can help them financially.
Earlier too, Akshay Kumar has supported the family of a Martyr in the month of October, when he donated Rs 9 lakhs to BSF Jawan Gurnam Singh’s family.
