Students die to get admission in Oxford University; however, there is 1 student who finds the teaching very “Boring”. He not only finds it boring, he has even gone to the extent of suing Oxford University for £1m and claims that he failed to get a 1st class degree only and only due to such teaching.
Faiz Siddiqui(38), a modern history student at Brasenose College has filed a case against Oxford University for ruining his career. He says that he would have become a commercial lawyer if the University would have awarded him a 1st class degree rather than a 2:1.
Now, if Faiz wins, even other students might file these lawsuits on the basis of poor decisions, unsuitable accommodation and inadequate teaching.

Faiz, who is currently a solicitor says that his grades were pulled down owing to negligent teaching. After calculating the loss of earnings, Siddiqui claimed £1m against the Scholars and Chancellor of Oxford University.
Roger Mallalieu, his barrister, says that Faiz is suffering from depression and insomnia due to this failure. He had dreams of becoming a highly successful commercial barrister, which he couldn’t.
On the other hand, Oxford University is of the opinion that the claim should be struck out as it is baseless; it has been several years since Faiz graduated. However, Julian Milford, the university’s barrister admits that it was facing difficulties with the module in that particular year because 50 percent of the teaching staff was on sabbatical leave.
Faiz says that the standard of coaching that he received from Dr David Washbrook started getting low, due to immense pressure on the historian. Since 4 out of 7 faculty members were on leave, Dr David had to handle everything. He also highlighted the fact that 13 out of 15 students who received coaching from him, got lowest marks.
Roger claimed
“This is a large percentage who got their lowest mark in the specialist subject papers. There is a statistical anomaly that matches our case that there was a specific problem with the teaching in this year having a knock-on effect on the performance of students.”

The judgment would be given by this month end, let us see what happens! Do you think it is a baseless claim? If you were in place of Faiz, what step would you take? Share your views with us in our comments section below!
