One more hacking attack took place yesterday and this time, the target for the twitter handle of Press Trust of India, the premier news agency of India. Yes, the account was hacked just for 20 minutes and the hackers were identified as “Iranian Crack Security Team”.
They had left a black logo which had “Iran Crack” on it and these were followed by the words “Security team”. 3 messages were posted by the hackers on the timeline of PTI and out of that, one message read “Join the best channel telegram”. Have a look at the tweets;
In no time, the account was restored, but there was no immediate clarity as to who was responsible behind this cyber attack. Not only were 3 tweets posted on the account, but even the profile image of that account was changed. Very soon, the technical team resolved the issue.
This is the 1st time that a news organization’s twitter handle was hacked; off late, many accounts of high profile people were hacked. Remember, the attacks on Rahul Gandhi, Vijay Mallya, INC and Barkha Dutt’s profiles? Many abuses were posted on the timeline and it was indeed a threat to security.
Very soon, Twitter will come out with some new ways of stopping online harassment and upgrading security protocols.
