Despite Being Visually Impaired, This 21-Yr Girl Got The Job That Many Of You Dream For!

There is no denying the fact that nobody is perfect in this world; the level of shortcomings may vary from person to person but it depends on you whether to keep crying and complaining or accept the shortcomings and work on your strengths.

Paridhi Verma is a perfect example of how to make lemonade when life gives you lemons. She is just a 21 years old student of IIM Lucknow and a micro-finance bank has offered her a job of customer relationship executive.

What makes her stand out from others is that she has achieved this despite the fact that she is visually impaired. She accepted her disability without any hesitation as she says,

“Yes, I have a disability. I suffer from macular degeneration with visual impairment up to 90%.”

Paridhi was in the 5th standard when her problem was noticed; many reputed doctors examined her and tested her eyes. However, it’s creditable on her part that her disability never proved to be an obstacle in the path of her goal. She said,

“With 10% vision, I may have to take a slightly different path than others. Macular degeneration is a very rare disease and occurs in one in seven lakh people. It is incurable and progressive in my case.”

When she got admission into IIM Lucknow, she was just 19, the youngest in her batch, and she cleared CAT in the first attempt with the help of readers and scribes. The girl from Jaipur says,

“Adversity can never be a hindrance if you are determined to achieve something. After completing BBA, I prepared for just three months for the Common Admission Test.”

She is not just good in studies but also a part of the football team which won the under-18 state level football championship; she knows how to play guitar; she is the founder of a college band and has performed at many concerts too.

The Rajasthan Government also honored her with “Women of the Future Award 2015”.

Paridhi’s parents have also played an important role in her achievements as she says,

“I am a single child. My parents never let me go to any special institute. They chose to make me study in regular reputed schools.”
