Actress Taapsee Pannu was highly praised for her role in the movie “Pink” in which she played the character of a lady who didn’t overlook or bow to anyone’s illicit behavior and rather preferred to give a perfect answer to the moron. Now she has portrayed that image in real life too by launching a helpline for the women working in the media and entertainment industry.
This helpline will help these women in dealing with issues related to harassment and mental anguish. The timing of this effort of Taapsee seems to be perfect as many former female employees of The Viral Fever (TVF) have spoken about their harassment by the founder & CEO Arunabh Kumar.
Victims will be helped by professional counselors who are a part of this commendable effort. When a person will call on the helpline number (01149694998), the call will first be handled by a trained executive who will further transfer it to the counselor. The Event and Entertainment Management Association has started this project and it will also have redressal committees at regional levels in order to smoothen the process.
Sabbas Joseph, the helpline curator, told mid-day,
“We wish to create an environment where women can deliver to their full potential. Women in advertising, media, and entertainment are both role models and influencers. It is a positive step towards making lives of working women a little easier.”
Taapsee didn’t share her opinion regarding the TVF controversy but she spoke about the helpline,
“It is a profound initiative for all working women, especially in the events, entertainment and media industry. It is not just a step towards making the working environment safe for women, but also in making the world a better place.”
Isn’t it a great initiative? Do you think it will prove to be of a great help for women of our country? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
