In just few months, Jio has disrupted the telecom market with its attractive plans; other operators are facing a tough time competing with it. Well, this is not it; now, Jio has plans to create a sensation in the DTH market. Yes, since long, there have been rumors about Jio’s entry into the DTH segment and finally, it’s going to be a reality.
Some photos of Jio’s Set-Top Box have been leaked and there can be no better confirmation than this.
The picture shows an STB with various ports i.e. video and audio output ports, USB port, HDMI port and cable connector port; with this, users can easily connect the broadband cable with the STB.
There are reports that the DTH service will be launched this month and as part of the promotional offer, the company will offer 3 months of free service.
Moreover, this DTH Set-Top Box will be powered by a 1 Gbps broadband connection (Jio GigaFiber) which will be launched with it. Further, there are also speculations that it will have around 300 normal channels and 50 HD channels. The plans would start from as low as Rs 180 per month. Currently, Jio is in talks with Amazon Prime and Netflix for exclusive content.
Adding to the attraction, JioTV will come with a voice enabled remote which will allow users to search by names of actors, channels or shows.
It is but obvious that Jio will once again try to go ahead of its rivals in the DTH market too. The services will first start in Mumbai, and will gradually be spread to other cities.
