Sonu Nigam, the famous Bollywood singer, is in the middle of a controversy which started on April 17, when he tweeted how he was not able to sleep because of the voice of Azaan coming from the loudspeaker of a mosque.
Sonu raised his voice against the use of loudspeakers in religious places and ever since, he is the target of many maulvis and politicians; however, now his music teacher Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan has come out in his support and defended his disciple in a series of tweets.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa wrote that media wants to know his stand on the statement given by Sonu.

According to him, Sonu is his student and just like his son. Ustad knows him very well and he can’t hurt anyone, as he respects all.

Ustad also said that the matter should not be given a religious touch, as he wanted to raise a question on the use of loudspeakers in every religious place.

As per Ustad, Sonu wanted to talk about temples and gurudwaras also but due to the the limitation of words, he wasn’t able to do that.

He also adds that if anyone’s sentiments have been hurt, they should forgive Sonu after clarifications.

A maulvi from West Bengal issued a reward of Rs. 10 lakh for anyone who shaved Sonu’s head and made him wear garland of shoes. However, after Sonu shaved his head in a press conference, the maulvi named Maulana Syed Atif Ali Qadri refuses to pay him Rs. 10 lakh.
