Sometimes, people take extreme steps in the name of religion and it is shameful to see gruesome incidents happening even today. The holy month of Ramadan is going on and some Muslim clerics are leaving no opportunity to show their power.
A similar incident was noted in case of a Pakistani journalist Rashid Azeem; he was thrashed by Muslim clerics inside the mosque and the reason is shameful. They beat him brutally because they “Assumed” he drank water inside the mosque. According to the clerics, the journalist shouldn’t have done this in the month of Ramadan and considered to be as an insult to their religion.
They not only thrashed him, but also broke the camera equipment of his news channel.
The entire incident!
Azeem was with the crew of Din News Channel; they all were covering some event in Islam. In the afternoon, he went to Haqqania Masjid for afternoon prayers. Suddenly, a cleric questioned him as to why he was drinking water and not observing fast during Ramadan. Azeem was puzzled by this question and he denied drinking water. They got into a heated argument, after which the other crew members came there are tried to calm the matter.
When they tried to shoot this commotion, some furious students and clerics got very angry and broke the camera equipment. After this, they started clicking pictures of the crew fans and started hurling stones at them.

As of now, the crew members of Din News as well as the clerics have filed complaint against each other. Azeem was firm on his stand that he didn’t drink water; to test him, police officials sent him for a medical examination to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
