North Korea’s missile launches are nothing new. Every now and then, the country launches some or the other missile, but sometimes, it results into failure.
However, this time, North Korea claims that it has successfully tested ICBM i.e. Intercontinental Ballistic missile named Hwasong-14, which has the capacity of hitting any corner of the world.
This morning, a missile test was conducted and the results were surprising. As per reports by KCTV, the missile that was launched from Panghyon reached an altitude of 2,802 km i.e. 1741 miles and landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
With such strong ICBM rockets, North Korea can get rid of the war threats that it keeps getting from the United States.
A Japanese defense official said,
“The missile flew into waters east of the Korean Peninsula and may have landed in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone, which extends 200 nautical miles from its coastline.”
Luckily, neighboring countries were safe and no negative impact was seen. These claims of “Missile reaching anywhere in the world” were doubted by director of International Security Program, Euan Graham. According to him, 1 test is not enough for recognizing the country’s global capability.
He said,
“If the North Koreans are claiming they can launch an ICBM (to) anywhere in the world that needs to be looked at through a technical lens. One successful test doesn’t get them over the bar, they’re claiming more than they can deliver at the moment.”
