After storming the 4G market and gaining immense success, Jio is all set to shatter the market of smartphones. There are still some people in the country, who can’t afford to buy smartphones because they are very expensive, but it seems Jio has come out with a solution for them too.
There are reports that say that Jio might launch a 4G VoLTE smartphone for just Rs 500, can you imagine? Don’t you think that if Jio comes up with this phone, other phone makers would suffer a lot?
Reports further read that this phone would be launched at the Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries on the 21st of July, 2017. The price of the phone would be just Rs 500 and this would attract 2G customers to opt for 4G.
It is said that Jio has subsidised this handset by Rs 650 – Rs 970 for achieving the price point of Rs 500. If reports are to be believed, Jio has ordered around 18-20 million units with Chinese vendors like Megaphone, Shenzhen Chino-E-Communication and Zhejiang Techain Electronics Technology Co etc.
The devices would start shipping by late July end or first week of August If this phone is really going to be launched, we are sure of a storm in the smartphone industry.
As of now, no company has come up with such a cheap phone. However, Jio has got the tag of a being a “Customer friendly” provider and so, this phone might be a reality. Let us wait for 2 more weeks and see if the company launches it.
