Few months back, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was in news for catching fire due to battery explosion. The company solved the issue and issued replacement units. However, now, one more phone has hit the headlines and it’s none other than Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
Sakshi.com, a Telugu news website, has reported that a Redmi Note 4 exploded in the pocket of owner Bhavana Suryakiran, due to which he suffered serious injuries. Bhavana is a resident of Andhra Pradesh’s Ravulapalem district and this incident occurred when he was riding his bike.
The victim said that when he was on his bike, his phone burst into flames and caused severe injuries. Moreover, it was also reported that the heat was so much that Bhavana actually found it difficult to remove the handset from his pocket.
The locals tried hard to pour buckets of water, but still, the flames couldn’t be controlled. We aren’t sure about the authenticity, but here’s what other websites have reported about this incident.

Suryakiran had reportedly purchased this handset 20 days back from Flipkart; now, this incident has angered him and he said that he will file a case against Xiaomi for selling him such a defective piece. He wants compensation for the injuries.
Responding to this incident, a spokesman of Xiaomi said,
“We take such matters seriously as customer safety is of utmost importance for Xiaomi. All of our devices go through stringent quality tests.”
The company has launched probe into this matter and very soon results would be out. Few days back too, a video was circulated online which showed a Redmi Note 4 catching fire, but later it was realized that it was fake. There are chances of these reports being fake too; better to wait for the investigation report rather than jumping to conclusions and blaming the company.
