Not all movies are a hit at the Box Office. Some perform way too good but some can’t even manage to get an average response.
However, what’s important is whether the film is able to recover its costs or not. If the budget of the film is 10 crores and if it makes 20 crores, it’s obviously a hit, don’t you think so?
This is exactly what Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been trying to tell the critics about his latest release i.e. Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. This film hit the theaters on Friday and has been labeled as “Flop” by critics.

One thing worth noting about the film is that it has been made on a budget on only Rs 5 crores. On the other hand, it’s 2 days earnings have cross 7 crores. Isn’t this a plus point?
Nawaz is satisfied with the success of the film, but on the other hand, he’s not very happy with the way critics are tagging his film. He’s not liking that Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is being termed as a “Flop”.
He lashed out at the critics in a couple of tweets. Have a look;
Ppl r talking abt d budget of #BabumoshaiBandookbaaz, yes it's a 5Cr film including P&A bt fr me it's an art of cinema regardless of budget.

The tweet read, “Ppl r talking abt d budget of #BabumoshaiBandookbaaz, yes it’s a 5Cr film including P&A bt fr me it’s an art of cinema regardless of budget.”
Thank You Soo much for making a small budget film HIT #BabumoshaiProfitbaaz

“Thank You Soo much for making a small budget film HIT”
Not only this, in an interview with Indian Express, Nawaz also said,
“A few in the industry, who claim to know everything about the film, have shared wrong information and declared the film a flop. It is important to put the budget and facts in front”
He further adds that even though a film is made on a budget of 100 crores, and it earns just 70 crores, it gets the tag of “HIT”.
Isn’t this illogical? Just 100 crores is not enough, recovering costs and earning substantial profits also decide the success of a film.
This was indeed a perfect response from Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He knows that the film is a HIT because it is made on a very small budget and is earning a lot comparatively. This also shows that just big numbers don’t decide whether the film is a hit or not. A comparison of budget and earnings is equally important.
What do you feel?
