Nikhil Handa took away the life of Shailja Dwivedi, wife of Major Army Dwivedi. Delhi Police arrested an army officer Major Nikhil Handa on Sunday on those charges in the capital New Delhi. His obsession and desperation made him attempt this worst thing. Major Nikhil Handa took her life on Saturday. On Sunday morning, the police arrested Handa from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
Army Major’s Wife Case
Shailja’s body was found at Brar Square near Delhi Cantonment Metro Station. Major was ‘obsessed’ and wanted to marry her. He could not accept the refusal. So, he slashed her throat and ran a car over her to make it look like an accident. According to eyewitnesses, Shailja was thrown out of the vehicle and the same vehicle ran over her.
They knew each other since 2015, since her husband and Handa were posted together in Nagaland.
There were many call exchanges between both of them. However, most of the time, it was Major who made the call. Army Major Amit spotted him in the CCTV footage of the hospital. Shailja had gone there for physiotherapy sessions. According to reports, Handa had called Shailja to meet at the Army Base Hospital, where he had taken his son for certain treatment. Shailja went to the hospital at 10 am and left half an hour later. She was visiting the hospital for physiotherapy and ankle treatment for past four days. Her body was found at about 1:30 in the afternoon.
She had to give up her life just because she said she can’t continue the extra-marital affair.

1. Shailja Dwivedi married Major Army Amit Dwivedi nine years ago.
2. Shailja, who hailed from Amritsar, had been a lecturer. She was a “Double masters with first division.” She had served as a lecturer at Guru Nanak Dev University for about five years.
3. A wife and mother of 6-year-old, Shailja was one of the finalists of Mrs. India Peagent 2017 edition. At the contest, she won the title of “Mrs. Earth Creative”.
4. She couldn’t win the main title, but she was one of the most loved contestants.
5. She was a beautiful homemaker. Apart from being a lecturer for five years and a homemaker, she worked for the welfare and was involved in various social activities. She worked with an NGO called ‘Catch and Care’.
6. Shailja had done Double Masters. She had Master’s degree in M Tech in Urban Planning and was also a Master’s graduate in MA geography.
7. In her own words, she described herself as a “dreamer”. She called herself a “very confident, bubbly, chirpy and happy go lucky girl”.
8. Shailja always wanted to represent her country. So, she decided to participate in Mrs. India Earth 2017.
9. In an interview, she described her family as complete. She said, “when you have a loving spouse, a naughty child and a bond between them which has threads of love, respect, and feelings for each other”.
10. In her introduction speech at Mrs. India, she said, “Joking around is a part of my personality and I carry a persona of a dreamer.”
11. Shailja Dwivedi is the first cousin of late Captain Saurabh Kalia. Captain Saurabh was martyred during the Kargil War.
12. She had various interests, like singing, dancing, cooking and was a Bollywood lover.
It’s sad that she is no more. This is one of the most controversial extra-marital cases ever.
