IKEA Hyderabad In Trouble, Customer Finds Insect In Chocolate Cake & Posted Video On Twitter

It has been less than a couple of months that the Swedish home furniture company IKEA opened its first store in India and it seems to have stuck in another controversy in such a short duration.

If you remember, the firm received backlash some days ago after a customer complained about finding a caterpillar in the veg biryani served at the restaurant. When the GHMC team visited the restaurant, it found the complain to be true and imposed a fine of Rs 11,500. Not only this, notices were also issued to the restaurant manager as well as to Haldirams, Nagpur, the vendor from where the IKEA restaurant procures food.

Commenting on the complaint, the spokesperson of IKEA said that it was a flying insect that later flew away. The firm also expressed regret over the incident and apologized to the customer for the distasteful experience.

As per reports, the municipal authorities collected food samples as well as imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. IKEA’s spokesperson denied it and said that GHMC neither perform any inspection nor collected food samples for the purpose of testing. The spokesperson even denied being slapped with the fine or notice in this regard.

Such incidents are highly embarrassing and shameful and we hope that IKEA will take necessary steps to avoid them in future.
