Leading Diamond Firm Rejected MBA Graduate, Saying ‘We Hire Only Non-Muslims’, Youth Filed Case

Discrimination has always been in existence in regard to cast, creed, religion and color. And it is extremely shameful that even educated and sophisticated people are not left untouched with this contagious disease. One such disgraceful incident has taken place in Mumbai where a diamond export firm is found to be guilty of discriminating on the basis on religion when it refused to employ a youth just for his being Muslim.

Zeshan Ali Khan, an MBA graduate young guy, wanted to work with one of the topmost export houses. For the same, he applied in Hare Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd.

You will be shocked to hear the firm’s response to his resume:

“We would like to clarify that the company does not discriminate against candidates based on gender, caste, religion, etc. Any hurt caused in the matter is deeply regretted,” wrote Associate VP & Head-HR, Mahendra S Deshmukh.

He also added, “This erroneous email was sent by my colleague Mrs Dipika Tike who has joined recently and is still on training.”

Later, as the rejected guy filed a complaint, an FIR had been registered against the company by Mumbai Police.

According to an official Suryakant Jagdale, “As per the law, there is punishment of 3 years. After investigation it will be revealed who is actually related to offence.”

Rejection of his application gave rise to controversies and with an attempt to escape from this all, the company marked it a mistake done by an employee. Moreover, the organization did not practice discrimination on the grounds of religion ever, as maintained by the firm.

To quote Zeshan’s words in the matter, “I just completed my final semester exams of MBA last week and like other classmates have been looking for a job. I came across an update regarding a recruitment drive undertaken by leading diamond and jewellery exporter and thought it would be a great start for my career.”

Further, he said, “I along with my two classmates applied for the job. I forwarded them my resume on 19th May, 2015 at 5.45pm and exactly 15 minutes later I got a reply from the HR in charge of the firm that my application has been rejected because the company only hires non-Muslims.”

He also added, “At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting foreign countries and inviting them for investment and pushing ahead the ‘Make in India’ campaign, the leading export houses are rejecting candidates for their religion.”

Clarifying the issue, a firm spokesperson maintained, “As a company, we would like to reiterate that there is an error done by one of the newly joined HR trainees. Company functions without being biased with any caste, religion and gender.”

The email read, “It was a blunder and personal mess created by one of our trainees who has no decision making power. We have 61 employees in our office here including one Muslim in the HR team.”

Latest Update On The Matter:

To teach company a lesson, two of Khan’s friends named Omkar Bansode aged 22 and Mukundmani Pandey aged 24 have come to the decision of not accepting job in the so-called company. As stated by Omkar Bansode, “It is a wrong thing. We are a democratic country and youths should not be discriminated against based on religion.”
