Cricketers even took to their twitter handles to confirm the news and verify if it’s a hoax or not. As the news of celebrities demise spreads like wildfire before the news turns out to be fake.

Indian cricketer Ravichander Ashwin took to his twitter handle to inquire about the incident, he wrote “Is the news on Sanath Jayasuriya true?? I got a news update on what’s app but see nothing here on Twitter!!”.

It was said Jayasuriya met with an accident in Toronto, Canada on May 20. As per the reports, ‘A man was hit by a Honda Civic car died in the hospital and they had identified him as Sanath Jayasuriya.’ The news on the cricketer’s demise is fake.

Legendary cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya, himself denied the news of the car accident on his Twitter account. He wrote, “Please disregard fake news by malicious websites regarding my health and well-being. I am in Srilanka and have not visited Canada recently. Please avoid sharing fake news”.
