“He Is Batting On A Completely Different Planet,” Maxwell Reacts To Suryakumar Yadav’s Century

The Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav is in an excellent phase of his career and currently, he is the number one T20I batter of the world. He was the third highest run scorer in the recently concluded ICC T20I World Cup 2022 and he performed pretty well in the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand too.

India won the series by 1-0 as the first match at Wellington got abandoned due to rain and the third match at Mclean Park also got tied because of rain. The second match at Mount Maunganui was won by India by 65 runs and SKY played an important role in the Indian team’s victory as he played an unbeaten knock of 111 runs for which he played only 51 balls and his innings included 11 fours and 7 sixes. Not just Indian fans and former cricketers went gaga over SKY’s performance but many people from foreign cricket fraternities also showered praises on the Indian batter.

The Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell talked about Suryakumar Yadav’s knock recently in an interview when he stated that he didn’t know about the match being played but when he saw the scorecard, he took the screenshot and sent it to Aaron Finch and asked him what was going on. Maxwell further said that he felt as if SKY was batting on a different planet because other players were nowhere near to him in regard to scores. The second highest scorer for India in that match was Ishan Kishan who scored 36 runs for which he played 31 deliveries.

Glenn Maxwell said that the next thing he did was to watch the replay of the full innings and it was really embarrassing that SKY was so much better than every other player. He added that it was really hard to watch because they don’t have anyone even close to him and he was batting in such a bizarre but effective manner. As per Maxwell, SKY was playing the ball from the middle of the bat while stepping aside and he played sweep shot on the ball which was coming at the off-side that too on the bowling of a bowler who was bowling at the speed of 145 km/hr. Maxwell said that Suryakumar Yadav was playing some ridiculous shots at a consistent basis and in between these shots, he just put his head down, chew gum, tapped the glove and bat and again started playing.

The Australian all-rounder also talked about Suryakumar Yadav’s knock of 68 runs (40 balls) that he played against South Africa at Perth which helped India in posting a respectable total of 133/9 on the scoreboard.

According to Glenn Maxwell, the innings played by SKY at Perth is the most ridiculous innings that he has seen because he himself played over there couple of days before. He further says that what makes it more special is the fact that an Indian is playing in such an incredible and successful manner in these conditions.

The 3-match ODI series between India and New Zealand will start from tomorrow and the first ODI will be played at Eden Park, Auckland.
