Recently a video went viral in which passengers were seen sitting and having food at the tarmac (runway, or from where airplane get pulled up to the gate or head out towards the runway). Soon after the incident, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had a meeting with the officials of his ministry and notices have been issued to the IndiGo airlines and the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).

These passengers sat there after their diverted Goa-Delhi flight landed at Mumbai airport after a long delay on 14 January. The ministry has written in the notice that both IndiGo airlines and MIAL have been found guilty of not anticipating the situation and of not making proper arrangements for the passengers.

The ministry further stated that these passengers were seated on tarmac despite the fact that a remote bay C-33 was allotted for these passengers. This act of airlines and MIAL increased the problems of tired passengers as they were deprived of the facilities of restroom and refreshments which are basic facilities.
