The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is in great form nowadays as he is the Orange cap holder in the ongoing season of the IPL 2024 but his strike rate has been a matter of discussion among the experts and the former cricketers.
While there are some who are saying that Virat Kohli should open the innings as he will get the opportunity to play in powerplay and score runs at a faster pace, several others feel that Yashasvi Jaiswal is a far better candidate to open and he is also more capable of taking the benefit of field restrictions.
Sunil Gavaskar slammed Virat Kohli some time back after which the latter gave a fiery response in regard to his strike rate. Subsequently, Gavaskar asked the former RCB skipper whether he wants to get praised by the commentators even if he is scoring at a low strike rate.
Now the former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has shed his opinion in this matter and he has said that if we observe the last four IPLs, then the strike rate has gone from 120 to 150 and it really doesn’t matter whether Virat Kohli plays as an opener or not, if he plays in powerplay, it is going to be fireworks.
Matthew Hayden also feels that Virat Kohli will not shy in attacking the opposition bowlers without any fear as he knows that the Indian side is filled with superb batters.
