Interestingly, KKR won both their titles under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir and this time, he is the mentor of the team. The whole team and fans were in celebration mode as KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final which was played yesterday at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium, Chennai.

Everyone associated with KKR was in a jovial mood including the mentor Gautam Gambhir who is rarely seen smiling. A video is currently going viral on the Internet in which the KKR cricketer Sunil Narine is seen lifting the mentor Gautam Gambhir and then the mentor returns the favor by lifting Narine and then they both hugged and congratulated each other.

Sunil Narine, the 36 years old West Indian cricketer became the first player to win the Most Valuable Player for the third time as earlier he won it in 2012 (his debut season) and in 2018. In the IPL 2024, Sunil Narine scored 488 runs and also took 17 wickets and it won’t be wrong to say that his super all-round performances helped his team a lot in winning matches. Sunil Narine had a couple of below-par seasons earlier and he was certainly under some pressure, however it is being said that Gautam Gambhir made him open the innings which changed not only his but the team’s fortune as well.

As far as the match is concerned, SRH could post only 113 runs on the scoreboard after batting first and the target of 114 was chased successfully by KKR in just 10.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

While Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets, Andre Russell dismissed 3 batters and Harshit Rana also took 2 wickets. Venkatesh Iyer (52 runs not out, 26 balls, 4 fours & 3 sixes) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 runs, 2 balls, 5 fours & 2 sixes) played superb knocks and completed the chase for their team.
