Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer under whose mentorship Kolkata Knight Riders won the third IPL trophy recently is currently the front-runner for the job of the head coach of team India.
There are various reports which suggest that the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach is almost a done deal but neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor Gautam Gambhir has said anything in this regard.
Many feel that appointing Gautam Gambhir as the head coach will be a mistake as he doesn’t share a good relationship with the Indian star batter Virat Kohli.
During a recent interview, Gautam Gambhir talked about his relationship with Virat Kohli as he said that the perception is very different from reality and his relationship with Virat Kohli is something that this country doesn’t need to know about. He added that Virat also has the right just like him (Gambhir) to express himself and help their team win the match and he made it clear that their relation is not for giving masala to the public.
There have been a couple of occasions when we have seen Virat and Gautam getting engaged in a verbal spat during the IPL matches but in the IPL 2024, they were seen hugging each other after a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

A source close to the BCCI stated that if fans are talking about the tension between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, let us tell you that they both have got along very well off-the-field and even after the brawl that took place after the IPL match last year, they both were made to sit down and sort down their issues if they had any.
