Anubhav Sinha, the popular filmmaker, who is known for his bold cinematic choices and outspoken nature recently opened up on his enduring friendship with actor Manoj Bajpayee. In an interview with Mukesh Chhabra, Anubhav Sinha discussed their shared struggles during their early days in the industry and praised Manoj determination as a symbol of passion and perseverance.
Anubhav Sinha did not hold back while discussing the difficulties aspiring actors face when trying to break into Bollywood. He stated, “Actors are in need of that one opportunity to showcase their talent. But are you preparing yourself for it? If you haven’t read poems, know your history, or understand the politics around you, you can’t call yourself a good actor. Actors spend 85-90 percent of their time searching for an opportunity. Make that 15-20 percent, and instead, spend the rest on improving your craft.”
Anubhav Sinha has developed strong working relationships with actors like Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa, who have become essential to many of his projects. However, in a recent interview, Anubhav Sinha’s fond reflections on his friendship with Manoj Bajpayee, a name he has yet to collaborate with, stood out.
During the conversation, Anubhav reminisced about his and Manoj’s early days in the industry, the time when they both had little to survive on. Talking about Manoj Bajpayee, Anubhav Sinha said, “I’ve known him since 1989, from the time we had atta for just two rotis, and we used to share one each.”
He said that their struggles were intense but it was a period that helped solidify their bond and mutual respect. He pointed to Manoj Bajpayee’s journey as an example of overcoming obstacles through hard work and dedication. Their bond, formed in those challenging times, has only grown stronger as they both achieved critical acclaim.
Despite their busy schedules, the admiration between the two remains evident. Recently, Manoj Bajpayee reached out to Anubhav after watching his Netflix series “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack”, sharing his pride in his friend’s accomplishments. Anubhav said, “He called me at night to share his happiness, and then called again the next morning to say it all over again.”

Interestingly, despite their long-standing friendship, Anubhav Sinha and Manoj Bajpayee have yet to work together on a film. Anubhav revealed that he had offered Manoj a role in his recent film “Bheed” but unfortunately, it didn’t come to fruition. Nonetheless, he remains in awe of Manoj’s extraordinary talent and looks forward to a future collaboration.
