India Secures Stunning Victory Over Bangladesh In 2nd Test Despite Losing 2 Days To Rain

India extended their record to 18 consecutive series wins at home, defeating Bangladesh 2-0 in the second Test at Green Park, Kanpur. This win further solidified India’s lead in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. Despite two days of rain, India managed to clinch victory with a dominant all-round performance.

On Day 4, after losing two days to rain, India launched an aggressive batting display, setting the stage for victory. Bangladesh were bowled out for 146 in their second innings during the first session, thanks to stellar bowling from Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who took three wickets each. Akash Deep claimed the final wicket, wrapping up Bangladesh’s innings in just 47 overs.

Bangladesh started the match on rain-affected Day 1, reaching 107/3 before play was interrupted. Once play resumed on Day 4, they were bowled out for 233. Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets, while Mohammad Siraj, Ashwin and Akash Deep each took two. Ravindra Jadeja completed his 300th Test wicket with a single dismissal.

India responded with a breathtaking batting performance, setting multiple records for the fastest team scores. The Indian lineup dominated the Bangladeshi bowlers, with Yashasvi Jaiswal smashing 72 off 51 balls, Rohit Sharma adding 23 off 11 and Shubman Gill contributing 36 off 33. Virat Kohli made 47 off 38, while KL Rahul finished strong with 68 off 43, taking India to 285/9 in just 34.4 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 95, India completed the task in just 17.2 overs with seven wickets remaining. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 51, leading India to a comprehensive victory. While the young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal was adjudged as the Player of the Match, the veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin was declared as the Player of the Series.

India’s dominant win continues their impressive home record, with their last series loss coming in 2012-13 against England under Alastair Cook’s captaincy.
