The second test match between India and Australia will be played at Adelaide from 6th December but the hosts are currently a little worried as earlier their star batter Steve Smith got injured and now one of their star pacers has got injured.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh’s participation in the Adelaide Test starting Friday is under scrutiny due to a back injury. Reports from Australian broadcaster suggest that Marsh is unlikely to bowl in the second Test if selected in the playing XI. In the first Test in Perth, Marsh had contributed with 17 overs as the team’s fourth seamer.

Marsh’s injury has fueled speculation about his availability. Adding to the uncertainty, the inclusion of all-rounder Beau Webster in the squad indicates contingency planning, as per reports. Marsh, however, attempted to downplay concerns in an interview, stating, “The body’s all good”.

The timing of this issue overlaps with an injury scare involving star batsman Steve Smith, who was struck on his right thumb during a practice session. Smith left training mid-way after being examined by medical staff, with no official update on his condition yet.

Selectors have named uncapped all-rounder Beau Webster as a potential replacement for Marsh. If deemed unfit, Marsh’s absence would compel another shuffle in the Australian lineup. Injured pacer Josh Hazlewood is already ruled out, with his spot expected to be filled by one of these players – Scott Boland, uncapped Sean Abbott or Brendan Doggett.
