The Indian cricketer Karun Nair is in scintillating form at the moment. The 33 years old right-handed batter, who has represented India in six Tests and two ODIs, has been a standout performer in the 2024-25 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Playing for Vidarbha, Karun Nair has amassed 664 runs across seven matches, demonstrating remarkable consistency. On January 12, he scored his fourth consecutive century and fifth overall in the tournament, equaling N Jagadeesan’s record for the most centuries in a single edition of the competition.
Karun Nair’s performances have reportedly drawn the attention of national selectors, raising the possibility of a return to the Indian team. Amid this resurgence, an emotional tweet he posted over two years ago, appealing for another chance at cricket, has resurfaced and is gaining traction online.

During the time of the tweet, Karun Nair was part of the Karnataka team but he now represents Vidarbha in domestic cricket. Despite not playing for India since March 2017, when he faced Australia in Dharamsala, Karun Nair remains optimistic about donning the national colors again.
Reflecting on his aspirations, Karun Nair expressed his unwavering desire to return to Test cricket, acknowledging the hard work required to earn that opportunity. He emphasised the importance of consistently delivering strong performances to make a case for his comeback.
The seasoned cricketer, who has been associated with the IPL franchises such as Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, also shared insights into his recent purple patch. He attributed his success to staying focused on one game at a time and not dwelling on past performances. Karun Nair remarked on how a prolonged absence from cricket helped him realise his deep connection with batting, stating that his current phase is one of the best in his career.
