In a dramatic twist in Bihar, a woman chose to break free from an abusive marriage, finding love and security in the most unexpected place. Indra Kumari, married to Nakul Sharma in 2022, endured relentless physical and emotional abuse due to his alcoholism. As her husband’s addiction worsened, so did her suffering, forcing her to seek a way out of the toxic relationship.
During this period, she crossed paths with Pawan Kumar Yadav, a loan recovery agent who frequently visited her home for repayments. Their professional interactions soon evolved into friendship and over time, their bond deepened into love. Finding solace in Pawan’s support, Indra Kumari decided to take a bold step toward a new beginning.
For five months, the couple kept their relationship a secret. On February 4, they fled to Asansol, West Bengal, seeking refuge with Indra’s aunt. After spending a few days there, they returned to Jamui, where they sealed their love in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on February 11. The event, attended by several well-wishers, gained widespread attention when a video of their marriage went viral.

While Pawan’s family welcomed Indra with open arms, her own relatives strongly opposed the union. They went as far as filing an FIR against Pawan, accusing him of wrongdoing. Indra, however, remained firm in her decision, asserting that she acted on her own will.
Now facing threats from Indra’s family and potential societal backlash, the newlyweds have turned to law enforcement for protection. With their safety at risk, they are seeking police intervention, determined to defend their right to happiness and a future free from violence and fear.
