As the IPL 2025 approaches, the much-anticipated rivalry between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is set to ignite once again. The two teams will face off twice in the league stage, with the first encounter scheduled in Chennai on March 28, followed by a return clash in Bengaluru on May 3.
Matches between these two powerhouse franchises have always carried high stakes and their battles remain some of the most thrilling in the history of the IPL. The last time they met in the IPL 2024, RCB celebrated a hard-fought victory that secured their spot in the playoffs while dashing CSK’s qualification hopes. The intensity of that win was evident in RCB’s passionate celebrations, underlining just how much the rivalry means to both the sides.
As the countdown to their next showdown begins, former CSK player Subramaniam Badrinath has reignited the banter. In a lighthearted video shared on Instagram, Badrinath humorously interacts with representatives of every IPL team except RCB. In the clip, he can be seen exchanging handshakes and hugs with members representing other teams but when it comes to RCB’s representative, he completely ignores him and walks away.

The video quickly went viral, sparking excitement among CSK fans who took to social media to revel in the playful jab at their long-time rivals. The five-time IPL champions have long held an upper hand in this rivalry, having even defeated RCB in the 2011 final to secure their second consecutive title.
Despite RCB boasting some of the biggest names in cricket over the years, the elusive IPL trophy has remained just out of reach. They have made three final appearances, the most recent being in 2016 under Virat Kohli’s leadership, where they fell short against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Looking ahead to the IPL 2025, RCB will undergo a significant shift in leadership, with Rajat Patidar taking over as the captain. The team opted for a fresh approach by not retaining the former skipper Faf du Plessis during the mega auction. Meanwhile, CSK remains under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who took over from MS Dhoni ahead of the previous season.
With the rivalry fueled once again, all eyes will be on CSK and RCB as they prepare for yet another chapter in their intense battle for the IPL supremacy.
