Aamir Khan is one of the most popular actors of Bollywood and he has worked in many superhit movies including Dangal which was based on the lives of Indian women wrestlers — Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat.
When Aamir Khan’s film Dangal hit the big screens in 2016, it became a massive success in India and across several countries. However, it never made it to theatres in Pakistan. Recently, Aamir shared the reason behind this during his appearance on a show.
He revealed that the Pakistani censor board had asked the filmmakers to remove two key elements from the movie — first, the Indian National Flag and second, the Indian National Anthem which were featured in the scene when wrestler Geeta Phogat wins a match.
Aamir explained that the producers, including Disney, had told him that not releasing the film in Pakistan could affect their revenue. However, he was clear from the beginning that he would not compromise on national values. He recalled instantly deciding that the film would not be released in Pakistan if those changes were required. According to him, he didn’t even need a second thought. He strongly felt that if anyone asked him to take out the national flag or anthem, he had no interest in making his film available to them.

Meanwhile, earlier this year in April, India imposed a ban on Pakistani actors following a terr@r att@ck in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley where 26 civilians lost their lives in a brutal strike by Pakistan-backed terr*rists. In response, the Indian government issued an advisory to OTT platforms and digital content distributors to remove all Pakistani-origin material, including movies, series, music and podcasts. Additionally, social media accounts of Pakistani artists were also blocked within India.
Aamir Khan also expressed his support for India’s military efforts in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. He paid tribute to the armed forces by thanking them for their bravery and dedication to the country’s security. He also acknowledged the leadership of the Prime Minister and ended his statement with a patriotic salute, saying “Jai Hind”.
Proud and respect for Aamir Khan as he didn’t compromise with the national values.
