A prominent educational institution in Mumbai is grappling with a disturbing incident as one of its female educators has been apprehended under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrest follows serious allegations of s*xual assault brought forth by a student.
The distressing situation came to light when the victim confided in his family, who then promptly filed a formal complaint with the authorities. Investigations revealed that the teacher’s connection with the student began during preparations for a school-related group activity.
Reports indicate that the teacher frequently took the student to various 5-star hotels within Mumbai. The alleged assaults, spanning over a year, reportedly commenced with initial advances in early 2024, after their first interaction in late 2023.
When the student initially resisted and tried to distance himself, the teacher allegedly involved a female friend from outside the school. This individual reportedly influenced the minor by asserting that relationships between older women and teenage boys were “commonplace” and that the two were “compatible”. This female friend of the teacher has also been implicated in the case.
Following this intervention, the student reportedly agreed to meet the teacher. Police assert that the teacher then drove the student to a secluded area in her vehicle, where she allegedly “forcibly undressed and assaulted him”. It is also claimed that the teacher frequently intoxicated the student before these incidents. The ordeal took a significant toll on the student, who subsequently developed severe anxiety. The teacher reportedly provided him with anti-anxiety medication.
The family of the student initially became aware of the abuse when they observed a noticeable shift in his behaviour. They chose not to report the incidents immediately, hoping the situation would resolve itself as the student was nearing graduation.
However, the situation escalated after the student completed his board examinations and had left the school, as the teacher allegedly re-established contact through her household staff, requesting a meeting. It was at this point that the family decided to approach the police and register a case.
