How Space Rocks Became Symbols of Power And Now, Love

Since the beginning of time, inhabitants of the Earth have looked up to the sky and woven stories of gods, fate and messengers of the gods traveling through the heavens. But what if the most prized treasures of ancient kings were not golden crowns or enormous swaths of land but actual parts of the cosmos? Yes, meteorites. Believe it or not, some of the most wealthy and powerful rulers who ruled throughout history had an obsession with things that could come from sky.

In ancient Egypt, meteorites were seen as divine gifts from the heavens. “The knife that was taken from among Tutankhamun’s treasures and is meteoritic iron, which was made before people started smelting iron. This iron was not from Earth’s crust but rather from outside the planet, almost certainly from a shooting star that had collided with desert sands centuries before. It wasn’t just a weapon — it was an item of magic and symbolism, of supreme force.

But why did these prehistoric leaders cherish cosmic rocks so? The answer is partially psychological. Meteorites were rare, otherworldly, and deeply symbolic. They were evidence that gods — or the universe — had selected a ruler. Star-metal was thick, the authority bestowed from the skies. This, in the day of no satellites, no telescopes, was literally alien technology.

Fast-forward to today and the fascination hasn’t abated. Instead, it has evolved.

In modern society, we may no longer worship celestial stones, but we still pursue the extraordinary. From NFTs to moon dust-infused skincare, humans still invest emotionally and financially in objects that bind us to the “beyond.” Engagement rings, for instance, have come to represent in our generation the promise of a connection that will outlast time and death — constant and resplendent and rare. But here’s a twist now: the trend is strictly shifting. It’s no longer just women who receive these cosmic tokens of commitment.

Men’s engagement rings are a trend now — a sign of a cultural shift in how we view relationships, status and self-expression. With tradition tossed aside, there are no rules and now couples are adopting a more inclusive and thoughtful way to engagement. Shop now for men’s engagement rings,  because love knows no gender and modern love deserves a modern symbol.

Perhaps, the meaning goes much deeper than we can actually notice. In the past, Kings used to wear swords and amulets made from meteor showers to show off power and the Love. Fast forward to the modern world, rings are not just the jewellery, they are symbols of love relationships. When a man wears a ring, he does not just show that he is engaged, instead he’s choosing to honor love, equality and intention with something made from the earth itself.

It’s amazing just how alike these events are. Cosmic metals used by ancient kings showed they were selected by the universe for their roles and positions. Today, the ring men wear comes from Earth instead of the stars, showing their advancement in heart and mind, respect for their partners and faithful companionship.

If someone tells you it is just a rock, think about how our ancestors believed those rocks came from the stars. For lovers today, it might feel like something that’s so unique, it’s almost from another world
